Briar is a hand-drawn gothic chat widget for Twitch, framing every message in thorny vines and blooming roses, with real Twitch badges beside every name. I built it for channels that lean into candlelight and dark fantasy instead of neon. Every sub, tip, and raid still feels like part of the story unfolding on screen.
Briar is a StreamElements chat overlay wrapped in a hand-drawn gothic frame of thorny briar vines and deep red roses. It's built for Twitch streamers who want their chat to feel like part of a dark fairytale, not a generic box of text. Every message sits framed inside the thorny vine border. Real Twitch badges — subscriber, VIP, moderator, founder, Prime, and bits — appear beside each name automatically. Five alert types are built in: sub, tip, cheer, raid, and follow, each with its own accent colour. Chat also reads Twitch, 7TV, and BTTV emotes, with an ignore list and command-hiding included. Underneath the artwork, Briar carries 37 settings covering side, alignment, message count, hide-after timing, entrance animation, fonts, sizes, and colours. The gothic look stays exactly as moody or as bright as your scene and chat need.
Setup takes a minute: import the file into StreamElements and type in your Twitch channel name — no coding needed. Add it to OBS as a browser source and use the built-in preview page to test alerts before you go live. Every colour in the frame can be swapped, so the roses can stay crimson or shift to match your palette.
I designed Briar for streamers building a moody, fairytale-adjacent channel — horror, dark fantasy, cozy-gothic, or anything with candlelight and roses in the mood board. It works equally well as a quiet everyday chat box or as the centrepiece of a Halloween stream. Once you own the file, it's yours to reuse across every future stream.
Briar comes as a single StreamElements widget file, ready to drop into your channel today. If gothic romance is the mood you're going for, this is the chat box built for it.
