Carnival is a gothic chat box widget for Twitch and StreamElements, wrapping every message in chasing marquee bulb lights over hand-drawn carnival artwork. I built it for streamers who want their chat to feel like part of the show, not a plain box bolted onto the scene. Jester charms, a circus tent icon, and a softly glowing skull carry the theme into every corner of the widget.
Carnival is an animated Twitch chat widget built for StreamElements, with 37 settings covering side, alignment, message count, hide-after timing, entrance animation, fonts, sizes and colours. The install uses the StreamElements widget importer, and the widget connects once you enter your Twitch channel name — no coding required. Every message sits inside a carnival marquee frame with bulbs that chase around the border. Real Twitch badges for subscribers, VIPs, moderators, founders, Prime and bits sit beside each name. 5 alert types — sub, tip, cheer, raid and follow — appear inside the chat feed, each with its own accent colour, so a raid doesn't look like a cheer. Emotes from Twitch, 7TV and BTTV render inline, and an ignore list plus hide commands keep spam out of view. The widget runs as an OBS browser source and ships with a preview page for testing chat and alerts before you go live.
Setup takes one trip through the StreamElements widget importer, then a single field — your Twitch channel name — connects everything. There's no code to edit and no separate app to run. Drop it into OBS as a browser source and the marquee lights start chasing immediately.
Every piece of Carnival can be tuned to match your scene. Choose which side of the screen chat sits on, set alignment, cap the message count, and pick how long a message lingers before it hides. Entrance animation, fonts, sizes and colours are all adjustable from the 37 settings, so the gold-and-ash palette shown here can shift to match your own stream.
Carnival suits channels leaning into a dark fantasy or Halloween mood, or anyone who wants their chat to feel like a carnival tent at midnight rather than a plain sidebar. The license covers personal and commercial use on your own channel, so once it's yours, it's yours to keep running. I designed every lightbulb and badge frame by hand, and I'm glad you stopped by the tent.
