Ghost Ship is an animated Twitch chat widget for StreamElements, giving every message a gothic frame of weathered ship rails and a glowing green lantern. I built it for streamers who want chat to feel like a haunted vessel adrift at night. Every name tag, badge, and alert sits inside that same moody frame. The whole scene feels like one set piece, not a pile of mismatched widgets.
Ghost Ship refers to a hand-drawn gothic chat overlay built specifically for StreamElements, and it installs through the standard widget importer in a single click, no other software required. Once it is loaded, you connect it with nothing more than your Twitch channel name, and it starts pulling in real Twitch badges, including subscriber, VIP, moderator, founder, Prime, and bits, so every message in the ghost-ship frame looks exactly like it does in native Twitch chat. Five alert types are built in: sub, tip, cheer, raid, and follow, each with its own accent colour so viewers can tell them apart at a glance. Twitch, 7TV, and BTTV emotes all render inside the chat, alongside an ignore list and hide-commands option for keeping the feed clean. Underneath, 37 individual settings cover side, alignment, message count, hide-after timer, entrance animation, fonts, sizes, and colours, so the ship can match almost any stream palette.
Everything after that is yours to adjust. Drop the browser source into OBS and open the included preview page to test chat and alerts without waiting for a real donation. Change the lantern glow or ship-rail tint to match the rest of your scene. It works just as well for a quiet Tuesday stream as a full Halloween takeover — the mood is already built in, you decide how loud to play it.
I designed Ghost Ship for streamers who already want something darker than a typical pastel overlay. Think moody, nautical, a little haunted, but still warm enough that chat feels inviting rather than creepy. It works for personal and commercial use on your own channel. Once you have the files, they're yours to keep and reuse for as long as you're streaming.
