Letter is a gothic Twitch chat widget built around a cursed, half-burnt letter sealed with dripping red wax, glowing at its edges as each message arrives. I designed it as a moody, candlelit scroll for streamers who want chat that feels like dark fantasy. Not a plain box bolted onto the corner of the screen.
Letter is an animated gothic chat widget for StreamElements. It takes the shape of a cursed, half-burnt letter, closed with a dripping red wax seal that glows as each message arrives. Real Twitch badges — subscriber, VIP, moderator, founder, Prime, and bits — sit beside every name. Twitch, 7TV, and BTTV emotes all render inside the chat. Sub, tip, cheer, raid, and follow alerts appear in the same scroll, each with its own accent colour. Streamers can adjust 37 settings in total. These cover side, alignment, message count, hide-after timer, entrance animation, fonts, sizes, and colours. That range lets the widget match any gothic, Halloween, or dark-fantasy scene. It installs in one click through the StreamElements widget importer. It also runs as a standard OBS browser source, with a preview page for testing chat and alerts before going live.
Beyond the alerts, Letter includes an emote ignore list and a hide-commands option, so moderation commands and spam don't clutter the scroll. You can reposition the widget to either side of your scene, change the font and text size, and pick new colours for the parchment glow without touching any code. Everything updates live inside the StreamElements editor, so you can preview changes before they go on stream.
Letter suits horror, cozy-gothic, and dark-fantasy channels, and it works just as well during Halloween week as it does the rest of the year. It's licensed for personal and commercial use on your own channel — just don't resell or redistribute the files.
If your scene already leans into flickering candles, old parchment, or witchy clutter, Letter is built to sit right in that mood. It's the kind of detail viewers notice and ask about, long before the next raid takes them somewhere else.
