Rime is a hand-drawn gothic chat widget for Twitch streamers, where frost creeps slowly across every message box beneath a quiet, moonlit winter scene. I designed it for channels that want their chat to feel like part of a frozen, candlelit room rather than a generic template. It installs as a single overlay inside StreamElements, so the whole mood shows up at once.
Rime is a hand-drawn gothic chat widget built for StreamElements and OBS, designed for streamers who want their Twitch chat to feel like part of a moonlit winter scene rather than a plain box of text. Frost spreads across the corners of every message as it appears, and real Twitch badges — six in total: subscriber, VIP, moderator, founder, Prime and bits — sit beside each name so viewers are easy to place at a glance. Sub, tip, cheer, raid and follow alerts appear inside the chat itself, each with its own accent colour, instead of popping up as a separate overlay. Twitch, 7TV and BTTV emotes — three sources in total — all render natively, and an ignore list keeps bot commands out of view. With 37 individual settings covering layout, timers, animation and colour, Rime adjusts to nearly any stream without ever losing its frozen, gothic mood.
Getting Rime running takes a minute, not an afternoon. Import the widget file through the StreamElements importer, then connect it with just your Twitch channel name. No API keys or extra accounts are needed. From there you can set the chat's side, alignment, message count, hide-after timer, fonts, sizes and entrance animation to match your scene.
Rime works equally well for cozy horror streams, dark fantasy RPGs or just a channel that leans moody over bright. Once you own the file it's yours for both personal and commercial use on your own channels — just don't resell or redistribute it. Drop it into OBS as a browser source, test it on the included preview page, and the frost is already waiting.
